The Resurrection
Was It Bodily Or Spiritually?
When Jesus died the
spirit of God lifted from Him. Mark 15:34; Luke 23:46. The
Son, or body, died, the spirit of God that filled that body
did not die. James 2:26. The body without the spirit is dead.
The sonship is merely the fleshly body of Jesus Christ and when
the spirit of God lifted from that body the son of God was dead,
but God was not dead. The spirit merely lifted from that body.
When Jesus said, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me. The
spirit of God was being lifted from that body. On the third day
Jesus rose from the dead. Jesus said destroy this temple and I
will raise it up in three days, meaning, the spirit of God that
dwelt in Him, would raise His body from the dead. Jesus was raised
from the dead by His own power. In John 14 Jesus said I am in
the Father and the Father is in me. The Father, or the spirit
of God, raised the son, or body of Jesus Christ from the grave.
Acts 1:1-4, this was Jesus in His resurrected body. Verse 3, Jesus
showed Himself alive, after His passion, or just as they had known
Him, or remembered Him, alive after His passion, with many infallible
proofs. In other words, no doubt about it. This is Jesus, and
He is alive. John 20:1-9, they found the empty tomb. Luke 24:1-12.
John 20:11-17 Mary Magdeline met Jesus and talked
to him. Verse 17 Jesus as the son of God. I Ascend unto my Father,
or spirit of God, and your father, and to my God and to your God,
because He had a human body just like theirs. But all of God dwelt
in that body. John 20:19-24 He appears and talks to all disciples
except Thomas. This was Jesus in his resurrected body. John 20:25-31
He appears to all the disciples including Thomas. Verse 28 Thomas
calls Jesus My Lord and My God.
John chapter 21 the disciples had gone fishing,
and Jesus appeared to them and performed a miracle, the great
drought of fishes. He ate with them and talked with them.
Luke 24:13-32 Jesus appeared to two of His disciples
and talked with them, and expounded the scriptures unto them.
He opened their understanding that they might understand the scriptures.
Luke 24:33-51, He visited with His disciples,
ate with them and instructed them, and gave them the promise of
the Holy Ghost, and while He blessed them, He was parted from
them and carried up into heaven. Verse 39, a spirit hath not flesh
and bones as you see me have. See Mark 16, the whole chapter.
Matt. 9 the whole chapter. When Jesus was resurrected His body
was the same as it was before the crucification - a resurrected
body.
Proof
Luke 4:29,30
This was before the crucification. They were going to throw Him
off the brow of the hill and kill Him, but He passed through the
midst of them. This was before the crucification and resurrection.
John 20:19,20 He appeared in the midst of
the disciples, the doors being shut. This is after His resurrection.
God Raised Him Up
- Acts 2:24 - God raised Him up. The spirit of God, or the Father,
raised Jesus from the dead. John 4:24 - God is a spirit. The spirit
of God reentered the body, or son, of God. Romans 8:11 But if
the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in
you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken
your mortal bodies by His spirit that dwell in you. Here in this
verse in Romans 8:11 Paul is saying that the spirit of God and
the Holy Ghost is the same.
-
Acts 3:15 - God raised Him from the dead.
- Acts 3:26 - God raised up His son.
- Acts 4:2 - God raised Him from the dead.
-
Acts 5:30 - the God of our Fathers raised up
Jesus.
-
Acts 10:40 - Him God raised up the third day.
-
Acts 13:30-37 He saw no corruption.
-
Acts 24:24,25 - God raised up Jesus.
-
Romans 6:4-9 - Raised from the dead by the
glory of the Father.
- Romans 8:9-11 - the spirit raised up Christ from the dead.
-
Notice in verse 9 that the spirit of God and
the spirit of Christ are the same.
- Romans 10:9 - believe that God raised Him from the dead.
- I Corin. 6:14 - God raised Him up.
-
I Corin. 15:15 - God raised Him up.
-
I Corin. 15.20 - the first to rise of His own
power. John 2:19-21 - Jesus said destroy this temple and in three
days I will raise it up, Jesus had all of God in Him Col.
1:19; Col. 2:8,9. I Corin. 5:19 - to wit that God was in Christ
reconciling the world unto himself.
- II Corin. 4:14 - He who raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise
up us also by Jesus. So the Holy Ghost and the Spirit of Christ
or the spirit of God are the same. Romans 8:11.
- Galations 1:1 - God the Father, who raised Him from the dead.
John 14:1-11 - Jesus said I am in the Father and the Father in
me.
- Ephesians 1:19-23 - God raised Him from the dead and set Him
at His own right hand, meaning He gave him all power in heaven.
Right hand always means power Matt. 28:18. Jesus said all power
is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
- Col. 2:6-12 - self explanatory,
- II Timothy 2:8 - remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of
David was raised from the dead according to my gospel.
- Jesus was of the seed of David through Mary. His body
came from the seed of David. He got His life from the spirit of
God John 4:24. God is a spirit. The Holy
Ghost, or spirit of God overshadowed Mary, Matt. 1:18.
- I Peter 1:21 - Who by Him do believe in God, that raised Him
up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and
hope might be in God.
-
Isaiah 42:8 - God said, I am the Lord, that
is my name; and my glory will I not give to another.
-
If Jesus were not God in the flesh, Matt. 1:23,
He would not have any glory, because God will not give His glory
to another.
-
Jesus went away in a body and He will return
in a body. Acts 1:9-11. I Thess. 4:16.
I John 3:2.
-
When Jesus came out of the grave He had a resurrected
body of flesh. Luke 24:39,40. Behold my hands and my feet,
that it is I myself; handle me and see; for a spirit hath not
flesh and bone as ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken,
He showed them his hands and his feet.
-
Luke 24:41-43 - He ate with them.
___________________________________________________
When He ascended into Heaven, He went away in
a glorified body, because flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom
of God. I Corin. 15:50; I Corin. 15:35-55 - Raised a spiritual
body. I Corin. 15:51,52 - We shall not all sleep - or die, but
we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.
I Corin. 15:44 - It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual
body. So Jesus went away in a spiritual, or glorified body.
