The Holy Ghost
I Corinthians 12:3
Romans 8:9-11 - ACTS 1:8
Hebrews 10:14-16 - Luke 11:1-13
-
A Ghost is the spirit of a departed one. The
Holy Ghost is the spirit of Jesus.
-
Jesus said I am with you but I shall be in
you - John 14:17, See Luke 4:1. All of God was in Jesus
- John 3:34,35; John 3:13. Jesus was on earth and in heaven at
same time.
-
The Holy Ghost is the comforter John 14:16,17;
John 14:26; John 16:7. Jesus said nevertheless I tell you the
truth; it is expedient, or necessary for you that I go away: for
if I go not away, the comforter will not come to you; but if I
depart I will send him unto you.
-
Jesus said I will not leave you comfortless,
I will come to you John 14:18. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of
Christ. - See Romans 8:9-11.
- The Holy Ghost is Christ in you, the hope of glory, Col. 1:27;
John 14:17.
- We are sanctified by the Holy Ghost Romans 15:16; I Corin.
1:1,2. Sanctified in Christ Jesus.
-
God is a spirit John 4:24. The Holy Ghost is
the spirit of God.
-
Romans 8:9-11 without the spirit of Christ,
you are none of His. You are not saved without the Holy Ghost.
-
Romans 8:11 - the Holy Ghost and the spirit
of Christ and the spirit of God are the same. The Holy Ghost is
Christ in you. Jesus was God with us Matt. 1:23; I John
5:7,8 - See I John 4:4.
- Tongues is the evidence that someone received the Holy Ghost
Isaiah 28:10-12; Acts 2:1-4; Joel 2:28;\Acts 10:44-46, compare
to Acts 11:15-17, compare to Acts 2:1-4, compare to Isaiah 28:10-12,
compare to Acts 19:1-6, compare to Romans 8:15, compare to Galations
4:6 Abba Father - My Own Father. When a baby is born it cries,
or it is dead. The doctor listens for that cry. Any place where
they received the Holy Ghost in the book of Acts they spoke with
tongues, except in Acts 8:14-19 it doesn't mention tongues, but
notice that Simon saw an outward manifestation Acts 8:18.
He saw that when Peter and John laid their hands on the people
that they received the Holy Ghost. He offered them money, he saw
an outward manifestation. See Zephaniah 3:9. For then will I turn
to the people a pure language, that they might all call on
the name of the Lord to serve Him with one consent. At the
tower of Babel God confused their language. In Acts 2 there were
seventeen different nations represented that heard them speak
in their language wherein they were born.Peter and the rest of
the Apostles did not need to speak with tongues in order to preach
to these people on the day of Pentecost, these seventeen different
nations because they all spoke Greek.
- John 7:38,39 the Holy Ghost was not given because Jesus was
not yet glorified. The Holy Ghost was notgiven until Jesus was
ascended into heaven. John 20:22 they actually received the Holy
Ghost in the upper room on the Day of Pentecost. Acts 1:5-8; Acts
2:1-4, John 7:38,39.
- We must be very careful about how we speak about the Holy
Ghost Matt. 12:31,32. If you speak a word against the Holy Ghost,
it won't be forgiven you in this world or the world to come. We
had better search the scriptures and know what we are talking
about, when we are talking about the Holy Ghost Mark 3:29
- Mark 1:8 I have indeed baptized you with water: but He shall
baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
- Luke 3:16 - Holy Ghost and with fire. Acts 2:1-4 - cloven
tongues like as of fire.
- Luke 3:21,22 - The voice and the Dove was for a witness to
John the Baptist.Example: - Proof - John 1:29-33. John said in
verse 33 I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water,
the same said unto me, upon whom thou shalt see the spirit descending
and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the
Holy Ghost. This voice was for a witness to John. This is how
John knew it was Jesus.
- John 3:13 - Jesus was on earth and in heaven at the same time.
John 4:24 - God is a spirit and all of the spirit of God was in
Jesus.
John 3:34,35 - God giveth not the spirit by measure unto
him. Jesus was the spirit in a fleshly body.
John 14:10 - Believest thou not that I am in the father, and the
father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not
of myself but the father that dwell within me, he doeth the works.
Jesus is saying the spirit of God that dwells in this fleshly
body doeth the works. In verse 11 Jesus said believe me that I
am in the Father and the father in me; or else believe me for
the very works sake. See Colossians 1:15-19; Colossians 2:8-10;
Colossians 1:15 Jesus is the image of the invisible God.
- Romans 5:5 - The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts
by the Holy Ghost.
- The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the
Holy Ghost Romans 14:17.
- Our hope is through the power of the Holy Ghost Acts 1:8;
Acts 2:1-4. We have no power without the Holy Ghost. We must go
to the book of Acts for the plan of Salvation.
- I Cor. 12:3 - No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by
the Holy Ghost.
- Hebrews 6:1-8 - It is dangerous to fall away from the truth.
- II Thess. 2:10-12 - If we don't have a love for the truth,
God will send strong delusions that they would believe a lie and
be damned, who believe not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
- We must beware of false prophets II Corin. 11:13-15.
- God is coming after a church without spot or wrinkle or any
such thing Eph. 5:27.
- II Tim. 3:1-7 - From such turn away. Ever learning and never
coming to the knowledge of the truth.
- John 6:44-69 - Verse 63, it is the spirit that quickeneth;
the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you,
they are spirit, and they are life.
- John 3:1-13 - Jesus is speaking of our receiving the Holy
Ghost. Verse 5, 6 - except a man be born of water and the spirit,
he cannot see the kingdom of God. Jesus is saying except
you have the holy spirit dwelling inside of you, you are not in
the kingdom of God. Verse 7,8 - is speaking of what happened
in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. We are born of
the water when we come up out of the water. And we are born
of the spirit when we receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost speaking
with tongues.
