Romans 10:1-13
Matthew 5:6

In Romans the 10th chapter Paul is still talking about the difference between the Law and GraceThe Jew and the Gentile.  Paul had a great desire to see Israel saved, and, he is saying if they will quit hanging on to the law that they can be saved.  He said, they are ignorant of God's righteousness, and are going about trying to establish their own righteousness; instead of yielding to the righteousness of God by faith.  He is saying, the law is behind us, Jesus is the end of the Law.  These Jews need to move on to grace, or the righteousness of God.  The word of faith is neigh thee even in thy mouth which we preach.  See Matt. 5:6; Romans 14:17; Galations 3:14; Ephesians 1:12,13; I Corin. 4:13,14; Galatians 2:20.

That if they would confess that Jesus is the Lord; that He was their Messiah, and that He came to this earth and died, shed His blood, and rose again on the third day that they could be saved.  Paul said, I could wish myself to become a castaway for the salvation of the Jews.  In Romans 9:1-4 Paul said, I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bare me witness in the Holy Ghost that I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.  For I could wish, that I were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh; who are Israelites: to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God and the promises.

Romans 10:1-2, Paul said, brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.  For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.  Paul wanted the Jews to be saved more than anything else in the world.

In verse 12,  he says, for there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.  In other words, the Jew can be saved if he will leave the Law behind and believe in Christ as their Messiah.

In verse 13, he said, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, both Jew and Gentile, there is no difference in God.  Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  This does not mean that you can repeat a simple prayer and be saved.  John 7:38,39, Jesus said, He that believeth on me as the scriptures hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  But this spake he of the spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given: because that Jesus was not yet glorified.  In John 5:39 Jesus said, search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they that testify of me.  Luke 24:44-49, and he said unto them, these are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the Psalms concerning me.  Then opened he their understanding that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.  And ye are witnesses of these things and behold, I send the promise of my father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.  When we say we believe in Christ we are saying that we believe everything that was written of him in the law and in the prophets and in the Psalms.  We must believe on him as the scriptures hath said, all the scriptures from Genesis to Revelation.  Jesus said, not everyone that says unto me Lord, Lord shall enter in to the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my father which is in heaven.  In Luke 24:25, then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken.  Just saying "I believe" doesn't save us, we must know what we believe, and that must be all the scriptures, not just take a scripture and make a doctrine, II Corin. 13:1, in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.  We can't establish a doctrine on one scripture.

Then Paul said in verse 14, how then shall they call upon him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?  And how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall he preach except he be sent?  As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them, that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things.  Notice, Paul was talking about the Jews here.
