Doctrine
When
Moses was about to make the tabernacle, God gave him a pattern
or replica to study. God said, see that you make all things
according to the pattern, that I showed you in the Mount.
Hebrews 8:5 - God told Moses exactly how he wanted the tabernacle
to be built, inside and outside. God told Moses what materials
to use, and how he wanted them used; he even gave him a pattern,
or replica of the tabernacle for Moses to study: and in Exodus
25:40 God said, Look, that you make them after the pattern, which
was shewed you in the Mount. Moses was not to change
the plans in anyway; God even gave him the exact measurements,
and he was not to deviate from the pattern that was given by God
in Mount Sinai.
In I Chronicles the 13th chapter, King David was
thinking about God, and how he would love to have the Ark of God
back in Jerusalem. David loved God with all his heart, and
the Ark represented the presence of God.
So David consulted with the captains of thousands
and hundreds, and with all the leaders of Israel, and said unto
all the congregation of Israel, if it seem good unto you and that
it be of the Lord our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren
everywhere, that are left in the land of Israel, and with them
also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities, and
suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us: and let us bring
again the ark of our God to us: for we inquired not at it in the
days of Saul.
This was a good thing David wanted to do, and all
the people were excited about it, because this would mean that
the presence of God was with Israel again. It was also the
will of God for the ark to be brought back: but there was only
one way that the ark could be moved. You see God even told
Moses how he wanted the ark moved and David was not aware of this.
David thought how nice it would be to build a nice
new cart and just put the ark on this nice new cart, and they
would come dancing back to Jerusalem with joy, because the presence
of God would be in their midst again. But what David didn't
know was, that the ark was to be moved only one way. My
friend it's Gods way or no way. God will not bow to man's
plan of attack, but we must bow to the plan of God, and God only
has one plan. So David gathered all Israel to bring the
ark of God from Kirjath-Jiarim and they carried the ark of God
in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio
drove the cart. David and all Israel played all kinds of
musical instruments, and shouted and danced before the Lord: no
doubt, they were rejoicing because they were going to have the
ark of God, or the presence of God, in their midst, just as it
had been in years gone by; and it seemed like David's plan was
working out great; but there was one thing lacking: David failed
to search the scriptures to see if he was following the plan of
God in moving the ark.
The Bible says in I Chronicles 13:9-14, When they
came unto the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand
to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled. And the anger of
the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he
put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God and David
was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzza.
And David was afraid of God that day, saying, how shall I bring
the ark of God home with me? So David brought not the ark
home to himself to the City of David, but carried it aside into
the house of Obed-edom, the Gittite. And the ark of God
remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house three months.
And the Lord blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that he had.
We must never try to change the plan of God to fit
our little program. God has always had a plan: he had a
plan for Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. He had a plan
for Moses and the Israelites in the time of the law and the tabernacle
plan, and he has a plan for today, and it is up to us to obey
that plan.
Evidently David studied the scriptures and found
out that the ark was not to be moved on wagons, but it was to
be carried on the shoulders of the sons of Kohath. Only
the priests were to touch the ark. A man lost his life because
David didn't search the scriptures to see how the ark was to be
moved. Three months later after finding out how to carry
the ark; they came dancing and shouting into the city of David,
and they brought the ark of the Lord, and set it in his place,
in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it.
II Samuel 6:13-18.
Any old way won't do. Jesus said, search the
scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life, and they
are they that testify of me. Jesus is our ark Hebrews 10:14-31.
There is only one body and one spirit, even as ye are called in
one hope of your calling: One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, One
God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and
in you all.
There is a teaching that doctrine really isn't important
but let's see what the scriptures have to say about doctrine.
Isaiah 29:24 They also that erred in spirit shall come to
understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.
- I Timothy 3:1,2, That you might charge some that they teach
no other doctrine.
- I Timothy 4:16, Take heed to thyself, and unto the doctrine:
for in doing this though shalt save thyself and them that hear
thee.
- Titus 2:9-16, Holding fast the faithful word as he has been
taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and
to convince the gainsayers. For there are many unruly and
vain talkers, and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
whose mouths must b stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching
things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. One
of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians
are alway liars, even beasts, slow bellies. This witness
is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be
sound in the faith: not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments
of men, that turn from the truth. Unto the pure all things
are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing
pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They
profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being
abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
- Titus 2:1, But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine.
- II John 9-11, Whosoever transgreseth, and abideth not in the
body of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine
of Christ, he hath both the father and the son. If there
come any unto you and bring not this doctrine, receive
him not into your house, neither bid him God speed for he that
bideth him God Speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
- Galations 1:6-9, I marvel that ye are so soon removed from
him that called you into the Grace of Christ unto another Gospel:
which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and
would pervert the Gospel of Christ. But though we, or an
angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you than that
which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Paul
was very empathic for in verse 9 he repeated himself as we said
before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel
unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
- Hebrews 13:9, Be not carried about with divers and strange
doctrine.
- I Timothy 4:1,2, Now the spirit speeketh expressly,
that in the later times some shall depart from the faith, giving
heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils; speaking lies
in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
- Isaiah 28:9-18, Doctrine. very important.
- Ephesians 2:20, The Apostles Doctrine must be our doctrine.
No other foundation I I Corinthians 3:11.
- Isaiah 29:24 They also that erred in spirit shall come to
understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.
O thank God, God is going to help us to understand.
- John 7:16-17, Jesus believed that doctrine was necessary,
Matt. 7:28; Matt. 23:33; Mark 1:22; Mark 4:2. Example: The
parables. Jesus believed in doctrine. Mark 11:18;
Mark 12:38-40 - His doctrine. Luke 4:16-32.
- Romans 16:17,18 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which
cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye
have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve
not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words
and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
- II Thess. 3:6, Now we command you, brethren, in the name of
our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every
brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which
he received of us.
- II Corin. 3:13-17, All scripture is given by the inspiration
of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness. We must know how to rightly
divide the word of truth.
- II Tim. 4:1-5, I charge thee therefore before God, and the
Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his
appearing and his kingdom; preach the word; be instant in season,
out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering
and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not
endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap
to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn
away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
But watch thou in all things, indure afflictions, do the work
of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
- II Corin. 4:1-4, Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as
we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the hidden
things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness,. nor handling
the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth
commending ourselves to every mans conscience in the sight of
God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that
are lost: in whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds
of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel
of Christ, who is the image of God should come unto them.
- Luke 8:10 - To those who are searching for truth will find
it. It's only for the hungry and thirsty.
- II Corin. 11:1-4, II Corin. 11:11-15.
- II Corin. 13:1, This is the third time I am coming to you.
In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be
established. It takes more than one scripture to establish
a doctrine.
- II Corin. 13:5, Examine yourselves whether ye be in the faith;
prove your own selves, know that Jesus Christ is in you, except
ye be reprobate. We must examine ourselves by the word of
God, all of the word of God, precept upon precept, line upon line,
here a little and there a little. Isaiah 28:10,11.
- Galatians 1:6-9, I marvel that ye are so soon removed from
him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and
would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an
angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than that which
we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said
before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel
unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
- II Tim 3:1-7, Ever learning and never coming to the knowledge
of the truth. People explain away the scriptures, because
they want to teach that you can't live above sin. Without the
holy ghost, speaking in tongues, it's impossible to live above
sin, thus they teach that everyone, all are sinners, because repeating
a simple prayer will not give the power to live above sin.
See Acts 1:8. Ye shall receive power after the holy ghost
is come upon you. There is no scripture that tells us that
we are sinners after we receive the born again experience.
Romans the tenth chapter was never intended to be a plan of salvation.
Intelligent men teach this because they are blinded to the truth.
- Galatians 4:1-7, And because ye are sons, God has sent forth
the spirit of his son into your hearts, crying Abba father = speaking
in tongues. When a baby is born it cries.
- Galatians 4:16, Paul asked the question, am I therefore become
your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
- Galatians 5 - Read the whole chapter.
- Galatians 6:6-8, Be not deceived, God is not mocked.
- Ephesians 4:11-20, That we henceforth be no more children,
tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine,
by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie
in wait to deceive.
- Phil. 3:1-3, Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware
of the concision. See Rev. 22:15, See Isaiah 56:10-12,
See Psalms 22:16.
- I Tim. 1:3-11, That they teach no other doctrine. All
of the apostles preached the same things, the same doctrine.
- I Tim. 4:1,2, Now the spirit speaketh expressly, that in the
latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to
seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisies;
having their conscience seared with a hot iron.
- I Tim. 4:7-13, Give attendance to reading, exhortation, to
doctrine. Paul believed in doctrine. We must obey
all the word of God.
- I Tim. 6:1-21, Verse one, that the name of God and his doctrine
be not blasphemed.
- Verse 3 - If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome
words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according
to godliness.
- II Tim. 2:5, If a man also strive for masteries, yet he is
not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
- II Tim. 3rd chapter. Verse 7, ever learning and never
coming to the knowledge of the truth. Verse 16 and 17, All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all
good works.
- Hebrews 13:9, Be not carried about with divers and strange
doctrines.
- James 1:13-16, Do not err my beloved brethren.
- Matt. 15:1-20, Read.
- Matt. 16.1-12, Read.
- Mark 7:1-9, Read.
- Mark 8:34-38, Read.
- Mark 11:15-18, They were astonished at his doctrine.
- Luke 8:10, And he said, unto you it is given to know the mysteries
of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing
they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
- Luke 16:16,17, Read.
- John 7:14-19, Jesus said, my doctrine is not mine, but his
that sent me. Jesus was God with us. Matt. 1:23, the
word made flesh. John 1:14, God is a spirit. John
4:24, The son ship equals the body of Christ. He
got his body from Mary, Matt. 1:21-23, He got his life from the
spirit of God. Matt. 1:18-20 The holy ghost was the father
of Jesus. Matt. 1:18 She was found with child of the holy ghost.
Matt. 1:20 That which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
God is a spirit John 4:24. The spirit of God and the holy
ghost or holy spirit are the same. All of the spirit of
God was in Jesus. John 3:34 God gave not the spirit by measure.
He was the image of the invisible God, Col. 1:15. All of
God dwelt in him bodily, Col. 2:8-10. He was made of a woman,
made under the law, Gal. 4:4. He was the seed of David
according to the flesh Romans 1:3. He was Alpha and Omega, Rev.
1:8, he is the first and the last Rev. 1:11, Rev. 2:16,
Rev. 22:13. He holds all power in heaven and
earth Matt. 28:18. He was Immanuel God with us Isaiah 7:14,
Matt. 1:23. Isaiah 9:6, His name was called wonderful, councilor,
the mighty God, the everlasting father, the prince of peace.
He is the comforter Isaiah 51:12. John 14:18 Jesus said
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. John
14:17, He dwelleth with you and shall be in you. John 16:7,
He is the savior. Isaiah 43:8-14 - see verse 11, I even
I am the Lord, and beside me there is no savior. Matt. 1:21,
He shall save his people from their sins. Isaiah 44:6, He
is the first and the last, he is the redeemer the Lord of hosts,
He said beside me there is no God. Isaiah 44:8, Ye are my witnesses,
is there a God beside me? Yea there is no God: I know not
any. He is the redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb,
and the Lord that maketh all things: that stretcheth forth the
heavens alone: that spreadeth abroad the earth by
myself. Gal. 3:13, Christ hath redeemed us from the
curse of the law. Rev. 5:9, He redeemed us by his blood.
Luke 1:68, Many more scriptures about our redeemer. Isaiah 45:6,
He is the Lord and there is none else. Isaiah 45:14, Surely
God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.
In verse 15, he is God that hideth himself; God of Israel, the
savior. We know that Jesus is the savior. Verse 18,
He said I am the Lord and there is none else. In verse 21,
he said, there is no God else beside me: a just God, and a savior:
there is none beside me. In verse 21, he said, look unto
me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am
God, and there is none else. Isaiah 46:9, he said, remember
the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else;
I am God and there is none like me. Isaiah 47:4 As for our
redeemer the Lord of hosts is his name, the holy one of Israel.
Isaiah 48:11, he said I will not give my glory to another.
If Jesus were not God he would have no glory, because God said,
my glory will I not give to another. Verse 12, he said, harken
unto me O Jacob, and Israel my called: I am he: I am the first,
I am the last. In John 8:29 they asked Jesus where is your
father? And in verse 24 he said, I said therefore unto you,
that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am
he, ye shall die in your sins. This is serious, it's a must
that we know who Jesus really is. In John 8:32, and ye shall know
the truth and the truth shall make you free. It is just
as important to believe that Jesus is the only God manifest
in the flesh, as it is to believe that there is a God.
The greatest revelation ever given to man is, Hear
O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord. We know that
Jesus is the Lord. Deut. 6:4, see verses 5-9.
